With 6.7 billion people, there are already too many mouths to feed without the help of oil.
With oil production already at or near peak, we are entering a period of terminal production decline.
At present production rates, there is less than 40 years left of oil. The 40 year estimate from oil company executives has been criticized as overly optimistic.

In Canada, and especially Ontario, nuclear power is expanding due to rampant immigration.
The government wants to bury 45,000 tonnes of nuclear waste in the Canadian shield in an unspoiled, wilderness location of important wildlife habitat near only small settlements of people.
Wouldn't it be more fair to leave the waste at the reactor sites with the people who make money from producing it?

At this point in human history with 6.7 billion people, less than 40 years left of oil, nuclear expansion, highway expansion, deforestation, and species extinctions, it is long overdue that we start thinking about a steady state economy and therefore a steady state population.
