I would be interested in learning how communities that have been successful in implementing growth controls have overcome the Chamber of Commerce mentality that population growth (and the faster the better) is necessary and desirable in order to have a sound local economy. This attitude is perhaps the greatest obstacle that growth control advocates in Kelowna, B.C. are facing in gaining acceptance for their ideas along with the usual "growth is inevitable" b.s.. If anyone who lives in a community that has succeeded in overcoming this mentality, I would be interested in hearing about their experience and how they did it.
