Would anyone be interested in attending a North America-wide conference for supporters of controlling urban growth? If yes, please provide your name, organization, location, and contact information and where (the city) you would like it held? I might be interested in holding such a conference in Kelowna, British Columbia in the spring or summer of 2008. Kelowna is located in the scenic Okanagan Valley situated on Okanagan Lake and surrounded by mountains. (Click on the link below for a picture.) Please indicate if that location is suitable or if you would prefer another place.
John, what happened to this idea? If it comes up again, perhaps you should consider the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo. It's easily accessible from Vancouver on public transportation.
Sorry for the delay in answering, David. The civic election and a long winter retreat in CA has kept me busy. Yes, I'm still interested in this idea but I think that a U.S. location might be more popular as the urban growth control movement is stronger there, although having it somewhere on Vancouver Island might make it an appealing getaway for many. But first we need enough people to attend to make it worthwhile and there hasn't been an overwhelming response so far.
